School of English Study was invited to participate in the Dalian Volunteer Service Forum in the Disability Field

On December 13, the volunteer team of The School of EnglishStudyof Dalian University of Foreign Languages was invited by the Dalian Youth Association for the Disabled to participate in the first Dalian Volunteer Service Forum in the Disability Field. The forum was hosted by the Dalian Federation for Disabled Persons, and hosted by the Dalian Association of Mental Disabilities and Relatives and Friends, and Dalian Aina Comprehensive Service Center for Autistic Persons. Attending the forum were members of the party group of the Municipal Disabled Persons' Federation, members from the six associations of blindness, deafness, limbs, intelligence, fineness, and disability, and volunteers from society.

First of all, Liu Zhilin, member of the party group and vice chairman of the Municipal Disabled Persons’Federation, delivered an opening speech, calling on all members of the society to work together to create a diverse, harmonious, beautiful, and universal society regardless of age, occupation, or gender. Afterwards, the volunteers expressed their opinions around the theme of the forum of "Volunteer Service, You and Me" through speeches and topic dialogues, and told stories about themselves and volunteer service in the field of disability. The English school students listened carefully to the narrations by the volunteers. The touching stories of the narrators made everyone feel the warmth of love in winter and dispelled the cold and tiredness.

Qu Jingda, secretary of the sub Youth League Committee of the School of English Study, was also invited to share the feelings of the teachers and students of the School of English Study on volunteer service in the theme dialogue session. Teacher Qu said that the teachers and students of the School of English Study have been committed to various voluntary services and actively guide the young students of the school to devote themselves to voluntary services.

This "English Supporting Activity for Disabled Youths" not only allows volunteers to pass on love and warmth, but also improves the sense of social responsibility and caring service spirit of volunteers in the School of English Study. In the future, the teachers and students of the School of English Study will continue to contribute their strength to social welfare undertakings, relying on English professional expertise to better provide voluntary services to the society.

Due to the excellent performance of the volunteers of the School of English Study in the "English Support Teaching for Disabled Youth" series of voluntary service activities, the School of English Study was awarded the title of 2020 Excellent Volunteer Service Organization by Dalian Disabled Youth Association, and was highly praised by caring people from all walks of life.

This forum provides a communication platform for volunteers from the School of English Study to interact with caring people in society. Through this exchange, the students understand the meaning of volunteer service.
