2015 improvement courses on Regional Studies for teachers from League of Universities of Shanghai Cooperation Organization was offered at DUFL from July 13th to 17th. The course was sponsored by the presidents’ bureau of LUSCO, and more than 20 professors from member universities of the league took part in the one-week training. Russian Professor Gigte Lev and Ralph Reva were the lecturers for the course.
Opening ceremony of the course was presided by the Director of Office of the Chairperson of LUSCO, Miss Ren Xuemei. Chair of the LUSCO, President Sun Yuhua of DUFL, made the opening remarks on the occasion. Dean of Russian Department of Shandong University took the floor representing students taking the course. And Russian professor Gigte Lev made an address on behalf of the teachers.
In duration of the training, the two lecturers have systematically talked on topics such as “System of Instruction on Russian Regional Studies, the nature and definition of regional studies” and “China-Russian Cooperation”.
Regional Studies is in a fledgling state in China, while Russia is more experienced in this area. A cooperation in talent cultivation in Regional Studies within the framework of LUSCO is of great importance.
