Three DUFL Students Achieving Outstanding Results in the 6th All China Interpreting (Regional) Contest

The Northeast Regional Contest ofthe 6th All China Interpreting Contest was held on May 13th in DUFL. 75 contestants from 30 colleges and universities in Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang provinces and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region participated in the contest. This regional contest was hosted by Translation Association of China and ZYTK Education and organized by SATI, DUFL.

At the end of the competition, 8 contestants advanced to the national final, among whom 3 are DUFL students. Liu Xiaoyue, an MTI student from SATI, ranking No. 1 in the contest, got the award of “Interpreting Star”. Fan Junchi and Ma Ximan got the 2nd prize. The third prize winners were Yin Yiwen, Cao Jianan, Li Dongxu (BTI students from SATI) and Yu Xueyan, an MTI student from SATI.

Professor Yang Zhong, former Vice President of Northeast Normal University, Professor Yang Junfeng, former Vice President of DUFL, Professor Yan Ming, Vice President of Heilongjiang University, Professor Dong Guangcai, Chairman of Translation Association of Liaoning, and Ms. Hu Bingxia, Division Director of America & Oceanian Affairs Division of Foreign Affairs Office of Dalian Municipal People’s Government, were invited to be the judges. Mr. Wang Weichen, Vice President of DUFL and Professor Cong Mingcai, Director of Office of Academic Affairs were also presented.

The All China Interpreting Contest is one of the largest and the most authoritativeinterpreting contests in China. It tests the contestants’ comprehensive abilities in the aspect of professionalism, skills and information delivery. This regional contest consisted of two parts, namely English-Chinese interpreting and Chinese-English interpreting with the theme of group purchase and China’s economic development to test the contestants’ bilingual and interpreting competence. The great competence of the contestants who advanced to the national final won high praise from the audience and judges. Professor Yang Junfeng made comments at the end of the contest.
