On May 18,Ms.Sun Ling,directorofChineseLanguageDepartmentof SDL Technology Co., together withher team of delegates arrived at DUFL to seek further collaboration. They were received by Vice President Jiang Fengchun, accompanied by theDirector of Graduate School, Mr. Peng Wenzhao, Director of Office of Academic Affairs, Mr. Cong Mingcai.

At the meeting, Director Sun Ling made a comprehensive review of the previous cooperation between DUFL and SDL, including theTradosProject and Internship Program.She spoke highly ofthe performance bythe undergraduates and the graduates. Sun said DUFL has a rich pool of high quality foreignlanguage human resources. Based on the experiences of cooperating with the School of Advanced Translation and Interpretation, SDL plans toset up a global multilingual center in Dalian and hopes to receive continuous support from DUFL.

Vice President Jiang Fengchun said that university-enterprise cooperation linked theuniversities and enterprises more closely.Thiswould be conducive to cultivating students’ professional qualities and practical skills, constructing the team of double-role teachers and enhancing the competitiveness ofenterprises. Mr. Jang highly appreciated the efforts of SDL in helping with DUFL’s cultivation of application-oriented translation and interpreting talents.He also hopes thatboth sides will continue to sum up experiences,innovate modes of cooperation and continue to carry out exchanges and cooperation in more areas.

In the afternoon, experts from SDL, director from DUFL Office of Academic Affairs and deans from relevant schools and departments had a profound and extensivediscussionabout how to strengthen the university-enterprise cooperation and promote the cultivation of application-oriented translators and interpreters.Both sidesagreedthat SDL and DUFL would work together to develop training coursesreflecting the development dynamics and industrial needs and to explore the long-term cooperation mechanism.

After the meeting, Vice President Jiang and heads of relevant schools and departments were invited to visit SDL Dalian Division in Dalian Software Park to attend the inauguration ceremony of DUFL-SDL joint internship base and to visit the intern students from DUFL.
