Exchange Summer Camp Opened on DUFL Campus
On the morning of June 6, opening ceremonyforHong Kong– mainland university exchange program was held on DUFL campus. This program, guided by the Ministry of Educationwas named“CharmingEastern Liaoning and shining DUFL”. Present at theceremony were Vice Party Secretary of DUFL Li Baozhang and heads of related offices and schools. About 40 faculty members and students from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Open University and Hong Kong University of Education.
Mr. Li delivered awelcomespeech at the ceremony, extending his warm welcome to the teachers and students coming afar.Hebriefly reviewed the exchange program and said that in the past 5 years, DUFL receivedmore than 300 students or more than 10 groups organized by the Ministry of Education and the Liaison Office in Hong Kong.The program has become a platform for mutual learning and promotion of friendship among students and for academic exchanges and research cooperation among teachers, and thus has laid a solid foundation for future exchanges and cooperation between universities ofHong Kong and the mainland. Mr. Li said that this year coincides with the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return and hopes thatuniversities fromboth sidesshould take this as an opportunity to develop exchanges and cooperation in more areas. Director Li Shufen from the Chinese Education center of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology expressed her gratitude for the sincere invitation and hospitality on behalf of the teachers and students from Hong Kong.She said that each year many Hong Kong students deepen their understanding of the mainland and many students from Hong Kong and the mainland have forged profound friendship because of the exchange program.She hopes that everyone shall cherish the valuable opportunity in the 12-dayprogram to achieve a comprehensive understanding of DUFL, Dalian city and Liaoning Province, from the natural landscape to the humanity and history and to the city development.
Afterthe opening ceremony, teachers and students from Hong Kong attended a series of activities, such as a seminar and a party, which are named as“First Look at DUFL” and organized by the Communist Youth League Committee.At the seminar, students had a heated discussion on their college lives and social activities.At the party, the Arts Group, students’ societies and volunteers from DUFL and students from Hong Kong stepped onto the stage and presented a visual-audio feast with ethnic and regional characteristics.
The theme of this year’s camp, a12-day exchange program,will takea deep look at the localhistory and customs, city development and industrial revival of Dalian and Liaoning.
