The inaugural meeting of the standing council and branches of the Liaoning Education Association for International Exchange (LEAIE) was held at Shenyang Normal University on the afternoon of Oct. 29^{th ,}2017. More than one hundred people attended the meeting, including the officials of LEAIE, university presidents, foreign affairs office directors and deans of international education colleges. Director Yang Feng of the office of International Exchange and Cooperation of Liaoning Province made the opening speech and Chairman Li Shu of LEAIE delivered the keynote speech.

During the meeting, six association branches were elected: LEAIE Branch onstudying in China, on studying abroad onSino-foreign cooperative education, on international promotion of Chinese, on international exchange,and on non-government funded education. Branch chairmen, deputy branch chairmen and branch general secretaries were also nominated.

Director Yang Feng in his speech emphasized the importance of international exchange and hoped that the association and its branches would contributein raising the international competitiveness of Liaoning Provincial education. LEAIE Chairman Li Shu in his keynote speech, titled“On the work of attracting more international students to China”, pointed out that the LEAIE would help universitiesincrease their internationalrecognition andpopularity and make improvements inuniversity operations. In addition, universities are expected tofocus on the core concept of promoting Chinese culture to the world.
