On November 23rd local time, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia presented the Outstanding Contribution Award to Yang Meihua, Dean of the Confucius Institute at Briusov National University of Languages and Social Sciences, Armenia, for her contribution to the promotion of Chinese language, Chinese culture and mutual cultural exchanges.
Mr. Hovhannisyan, Deputy Minister of Armenia’s Education and Science Ministry, read out minister’s approval and presented Yang Meihua with the Certificate of Honor. Mr. Hovhannisyan spoke highly of Yang Meihua’s outstanding performance in terms of promoting Chinese language, carrying out cultural activities and training local Chinese teachers, and expressed his gratitude to Ms. Yang on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Science. Ms. Yang said that the honor not only showed the Armenian government’s recognition for the effort of the Confucius Institute, but also gave impetus to the future work of Armenian Chinese language staff. She thanked Ministry of Education and Science for their continuous support and recognition of the Confucius institute, and expressed that she would make greater efforts to promote Chinese education in Armenia and further boost cultural and interpersonal communications between China and Armenia.
It is reported that this is the first time for Armenia to present such a high-level honor to foreign expatriates in the humanity field. Ms. Yang’s award is a milestone in the history of cultural exchanges between the two countries.
