Liu Ximing, Secretary of CPC Committee of DUFL,met with delegation led by Eoin O’Leary, Irish ambassador to China

On December 5th, LiuXiming, Secretary of CPC Committee of DUFL,met withfive-people delegation led byEoin O’Leary,Irish ambassador to China. Jiang Fengchun, vice president of DUFL and heads of International Exchange and Cooperation Office, School of English Studies and other relating departments also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Secretary Liu Ximing warmly welcomedEoin O’Leary and his delegation, showed gratitude to the Irish embassy for its help and support in international exchange, and briefly introduced history, faculty and discipline construction of DUFL. DUFL has established a discipline construction system featuring foreign languages and coordinated development of economy, management, software, art and other disciplines. In recent years, two countries have closer education exchanges and sent more exchange studentst to each other.DUFL has established friendly cooperative relations with three universities such as University of Limerick, National College of Ireland and Institute of Technology, Carlow. In October, 2017, DUFL founded Irish Studies Center, based on close cooperation and designed to improve the quality of personnel training and scientific research, took administration consultation services as principle purpose, and saw policy research and consulting as the main task. The center combined subject construction, scientific research, personnel training and national strategy together, and promoted national and regional studies. DUFL will increase exchanges with Ireland and build a stronger cooperative relationship. Liu expressed his wishes to long-lasting friendship and fruitful results.

O’Leary expressed his gratitude to the warm reception and spoke highly of the campus environment and discipline construction in DUFL. He saw closer relationship between China and Ireland, and new exchange opportunities brought by direct flights between two countries . On the one hand, China can send students to Ireland through preferential policies including EU education grants. On the other hand, Ireland will also vigorously promote Chinese language and boost the education in Ireland to further strengthen cooperation with DUFL.

After themeeting, O’Leary and his delegation visitedIrish Studies Center in DUFLand had a warm discussion with teachers and students.
