President Liu Hong attended the International Symposium on the 20th Year of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization
In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, an international seminar entitled "20 Years of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization: Reviews and Prospects" has been held in Shanghai. The meeting is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, hosted by the China Institute of International Studies, the China Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Center and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretariat, and organized by the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law and the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization International Judicial Exchange and Cooperation Training Base.
Nearly 200 people from government agencies, research institutions, university experts, diplomatic envoys and media of the SCO member states attended the opening ceremony and the academic seminar. Professor Liu Hong, President of Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, member of the Chinese Coordinating Committee of SCO University and Chairman of the Chinese Presidents' Committee, was invited to attend the meeting
Ambassador Xu Bu, Director of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Center and President of the China Institute of International Studies, and Mr. Xia Xiaohe, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, delivered opening speeches on behalf of the hosts and the organizers respectively. Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Norov, Second Inspector of the Department of European and Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce Liu Jun delivered speeches, and Ambassador Li Hui, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European and Asian Affairs, made keynote remarks. Past SCO Secretaries-General Zhang Deguang (China), Bolat Nurgaliev (Kazakhstan), Imanaliev (Kyrgyzstan), Mezentsev (Russia) and Alimov (Tajikistan) attended the meeting in the form of video messages on the 20th anniversary of the SCO.
The opening ceremony also held the launch of the new book of the SCO Blue Book (2021), Twenty Years of the SCO: Achievements and Experiences, and the new book of the research report, Twenty Years of the SCO: Achievements and Missions. Professor Liu Hong delivered a report entitled "Shanghai Cooperation Organization University: Achievements and Prospects" at the plenary session. In the report, she highlighted the development history of the SCO University, the achievements of the Chinese project institutions of the SCO University and the direction of its future development. She stressed that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University is an innovative form of cooperation between China and the SCO member states in the field of education and makes outstanding contributions to the training of high-level international talents for the future of international cooperation in the SCO.
The way of university alliance is a model for the internationalization of higher education in the 21st century. It is also the basis for promoting the construction of "One Belt And One Road" and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. In the future, China will further take an active part in cooperation and exchanges among SCO universities, expand the channels and scope of exchanges on the basis of personnel training and cooperation in scientific research, and work with member states to promote internationalization and high-quality development in the field of higher education. The report concludes with three priorities for the development of the SCO University: to further promote people-to-people exchanges within the framework of the SCO University; Further promote the multiple cooperation in talent training and scientific research, and form the cooperation brand project of Shanghai He University; We will further promote cooperation among SCO universities at the local level.
