Vice President Jiang Fengchun attended the 2021 Thai Chinese Discipline Construction Seminar

On the morning of December 17, the 2021 Thailand Chinese Discipline Construction Seminar co-sponsored by the Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Language Convergence Center") and Beijing Language and Culture University was held online. Ma Jianfei, director of the Center for Language Convergence, Serela Sonsville, Vice Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research innovation of Thailand, Liu Li, President of Beijing Language and Culture University, Charry Manikosson, President of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, and Vice Monk Song Detongchai, Chairman of the Council of the Confucius Institute on the Maritime Silk Road in Thailand, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches, and 35 universities and institutions from China and Thailand attended the meeting. Jiang Fengchun, Vice President of our school, was invited to attend and speak at the meeting, and the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, the Confucius Institute Work Office, the Asian and African Language Institute, and the Han College attended the meeting together.

At the opening ceremony, Director Ma Jianfei pointed out that the Language Convergence Center attaches great importance to the development of Thai Chinese teaching, and has always maintained close cooperation with Thai universities and government departments, leaving a colorful Thai chapter in the history of international Chinese education. With the growth of the demand for talents in Thailand's Chinese, the Language Center will further support the training of teachers in Thailand's local Chinese and the construction of Chinese teacher training majors, and look forward to close cooperation between Chinese and Thai universities to enrich the teaching team of thai Chinese, improve the teaching level of teachers, and achieve high-quality development of Chinese teaching.

Vice Minister Sirira Sonsville said that Chinese is one of the world's important languages and an important bridge to build friendship between China and Thailand. At present, nearly 50 colleges and universities in Thailand carry out Chinese teaching work, and jointly open courses such as Sino-Thai translation with Chinese universities, hoping that this seminar will provide new ideas for the mechanism innovation and teaching mode of thai Chinese education.

President Liu Li proposed that at present, there are more than one million Chinese learners in Thailand, and in the face of the eager Chinese learning needs, Beijing Language and Culture University is willing to work with the Thai side to launch Chinese education research results that meet the needs of the new era, optimize the high-quality Chinese teaching team engaged in teaching and scientific research, and improve the scientific level of discipline construction in Thailand's Chinese.

President Charry Manigosson said that Chiang Mai Rajabhat University is the first school in Thailand to open a Chinese teacher training major, and has been innovating the curriculum learning and practical education model for many years, and there are currently more than 1,000 students studying Chinese, and hopes to cooperate with Chinese institutions to launch more high-quality Chinese projects.

Chairman Song De Tong Chai said that he has long supported the teaching work of thai Chinese for many years, very much agrees with the "going out" strategy of vocational education, is willing to promote the "Chinese + vocational skills" project to support the construction of the "Belt and Road" and Thailand's "Eastern Economic Corridor", and hopes that the "Chinese + vocational skills" project will create more cooperation opportunities for China and Thailand, thus laying the foundation for Thailand to carry out Chinese teaching on a larger scale and contributing more to the friendly relations between China and Thailand.

After the opening ceremony, the participants discussed and exchanged views on the topics of "building a new model for the construction of disciplines in Thailand Chinese" and "improving the teacher training and appointment mechanism of thai local Chinese", and Vice President Jiang Fengchun made a speech entitled "Deepening Sino-Thai Education Cooperation and Promoting the Training of Teachers in Thailand Chinese" around the topic of "Improving the Teacher Training and Appointment Mechanism of Thailand's Local Chinese". He introduced the exchanges and cooperation between our school and Thai universities from the aspects of exchanges and visits, professional construction, talent training, and people-to-people exchanges, introduced the construction of our school's international Chinese education to everyone, and said that our school attaches great importance to the cause of international Chinese education, and has played an important role in studying in China, building overseas Confucius Institutes, training and training of multilingual teachers, research and development of multilingual teaching resources, and sino-foreign people-to-people exchanges and cooperation.

In his speech, he elaborated on the necessity and feasibility of teacher training in Thailand's local Chinese, and he believed that with the deepening of the strategic cooperative partnership between China and Thailand, the demand for teachers in Thailand's Chinese has continued to grow, and the training of local Chinese teachers is an important guarantee for the sustainable development of Chinese teaching in Thailand. He said that our school hopes to provide assistance for promoting the training Chinese of teachers in Thailand from the following aspects: accurately supporting the construction of Chinese disciplines in Thailand's cooperative colleges and universities; actively participating in international Chinese education projects with the help of the Platform of Sino-foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center; establishing a multi-level support mechanism for studying in China; and carrying out diversified local teacher training projects.

As one of the series of activities of the International Chinese Education Exchange Week of the Sino-foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education in 2021, this seminar provides new ideas, new models and new paths for Chinese the construction of disciplines in Thailand and the improvement of local Chinese teacher training. Our school will also take this opportunity to give full play to the characteristics of our international education, continue to develop international exchanges and cooperation with Thai universities, make full use of our international Chinese education resources, and help Thailand Chinese education to develop sustainably and high-quality.
