President Liu Hong attended the 2022 Russian Confucius Institute (Classroom) Joint Conference
On the morning of November 26th, the joint meeting of Russian Confucius Institutes (classrooms) was held in Novosibirsk City. The conference was organized by the Confucius Institute of Novosibirsk State Technical University in Russia, Zhao Lingshan, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of China International Chinese Education Foundation, Liu Hong, President of our university, and Vakim Nekrasov, Vice President of Novosibirsk State Technical University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. 45 Chinese and foreign deans from 22 Confucius Institutes and classrooms across Russia, and 15 university leaders and project leaders from 9 domestic cooperative universities attended the meeting.
With the theme of "Confucius Institutes in Russia: New Era, New Challenges, New Opportunities", participants participated in the conference in both online and offline formats, aiming to better carry out the work of Confucius Institutes in Russia, promote the sustainable development of Confucius Institutes, and enhance exchanges and cooperation among Confucius Institutes in Russia.
At the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman Zhao Lingshan expressed warm congratulations on the convening of the conference on behalf of the China International Chinese Education Foundation. In his speech, he spoke highly of the great contributions made by Russian Confucius Institutes in Chinese teaching, cultural understanding, knowledge exchange and mutual learning among civilizations, introduced the achievements of many Confucius Institutes in focusing on the main business of Chinese teaching and developing characteristic curriculum projects, and affirmed a series of achievements made by Confucius Institutes in promoting development and being close to the people after integrating local resources and deepening cooperation among all parties
In her speech, President Liu Hong first expressed her gratitude to the China International Chinese Education Foundation for its strong support for the construction and development of the ten Confucius Institutes in our university. She pointed out that the Confucius Institute jointly established by our university and Novosibirsk State Technical University is the first Confucius Institute established by our university in cooperation with overseas universities. Since its establishment 15 years ago, the Confucius Institute has continuously improved the quality of Chinese teaching, carried out high-level cultural and academic exchange activities, and become an important platform for educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between China and Russia.
Vice President Vakim Nekrasov welcomed the presidents and representatives of Confucius Institutes to the meeting with the phrase "it is such a pleasure to have friends coming from afar.". He pointed out that it is the efforts of the Confucius Institute in Chinese language teaching and cultural popularization that make people's cultural exchanges occupy an important position in China-Russia multi-field cooperation. The holding of this conference will help us to explore new ways to solve problems in the face of new opportunities and challenges in the current situation, and realize the sustainable development of Confucius Institutes in Russia.
The conference is divided into three sections: "Confucius Institutes in the New Situation to Develop in accordance with Local Conditions", "Digital Construction of Confucius Institutes in the New Era, Teachers Construction, Teaching Materials Construction", and "Construction of Exchange and Cooperation mechanism of Confucius Institutes in Russia". 21 wonderful research reports were given to the guests and colleagues on issues of urgent practical significance, such as the professional training system of local Chinese teachers.
The Confucius Institute of Novosibirsk State Technical University in Russia carefully prepared and arranged the conference in an orderly manner, which made the joint meeting a complete success and was unanimously praised by the China International Chinese Education Foundation, Russian Confucius Institutes and partner universities. The joint meeting built an exchange platform for Russian Confucius Institutes, classrooms and Chinese and Russian universities to share the construction experience of Confucius Institutes, and pointed out the direction for further strengthening the synergy and cooperation between Russian Confucius Institutes in the current international context, promoting the connotative development of Confucius Institutes, and jointly discussing the road of sustainable and high-quality development in the future.
