On December 19th, the inauguration ceremony of the Institute of Regional and Country Studies/Institute of Northeast Asia and the high-end Forum of Regional and Country Studies were held both online and offline.
Wang Weichen, Party Secretary, Liu Hong, President, Cong Mingcai, Vice President and Chang Junyue, vice President of Dalian University of Foreign Languages attended the ceremony and inaugurated the Institute of Regional and Country Studies and the Institute of Northeast Asian Studies respectively.
Luo Lin, Director of the National and Regional Studies Secretariat of the University; Huo Yuzhen, former Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Czech Republic; Li Yongquan, Distinguished Professor of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and honorary President of the Institute of Regional and National Studies of Dalian University of Foreign Languages; Chu Shulong, professor of Tsinghua University and honorary President of the Institute of Northeast Asian Studies of Dalian University of Foreign Languages; Representatives of relevant departments, teachers and students from Dalian University of Foreign Languages attended the opening ceremony and high-end forum. The unveiling ceremony and high-end forum was presided over by Prof. Chang Junyue, Vice President of Dalian University of Foreign Languages.
In her speech, President Liu Hong said that in order to serve the national strategy and respond to the requirements of the national discipline layout, Dalian University of Foreign Languages established the Institute of Regional Studies by integrating the research centers registered by the Ministry of Education and the provincial and municipal think tank platforms. At the same time, the Institute of Northeast Asian Studies was established by combining the Northeast Asian Research Center, the Russian Research Center and other research institutions into each other.
The establishment of the two research institutes is a milestone event in the history of discipline construction of our university. After the establishment, the two institutes will continue to improve the management system, deeply integrate the similar disciplines, strengthen the platform construction and team construction, enhance the internationalization level of scientific research, serve the national development needs, and promote the construction of high-end think tanks and the output of high-level and landmark achievements.
