On September 1st, the Award Ceremony of the 2023 National Translation Technology Competition and the Seminar on Translation Practice and Education Model Innovation in the Era of Digital Humanities jointly sponsored by Translators Association of China, Translation School of CIPG and Dalian University of Foreign Languages was held in Dalian University of Foreign Languages under the guidance of China Foreign Language Administration and the National Steering Committee for Graduate Education in Translation and Translation.
Deputy Director Takashi pointed out that grasping new technologies and new opportunities, strengthening national translation capacity building, and comprehensively improving the effectiveness of international communication are major strategic tasks related to national development. In her speech, President Liu Hong pointed out that the rapid development of new technologies such as artificial intelligence has had a huge impact on the translation industry. Under the influence of new technologies, great changes have taken place in the efficiency and quality of translation, business forms and working methods, etc. It is in urgent need of compound translation talents who master the expression ability of foreign languages and mother tongues as well as the application ability of information technology, so as to promote the career transformation of translation talents from "language skills" to "language skills + information skills".
The 2023 National Translation Technology Competition was officially launched at the annual meeting of the Translators Association of China in April this year, aiming to promote the active learning and application of translation technology by translation talents. During the event, the School of Translation and Interpretation of CIPG and Dalian University of Foreign Languages signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The Intelligent Translation Laboratory of the Translation Institute of CIPG and the Translation Technical Committee of the Translators Association of China jointly released the Plan for Improving International Communication and Translation Literacy in the Age of Digital Intelligence. Pengcheng Laboratory and Translation Academy of CIPG released the evaluation list of low-resource multilingual translation on BRIGHT platform.
In 2009, Dalian University of Foreign Languages was approved to authorize the professional degree of Master of Translation. After 15 years of continuous efforts, the school's MTI education has expanded to 6 languages, 10 professional fields, and established a team of nearly 100 MTl graduate tutors. The school has established a model of integration of production and education and school-enterprise cooperation in education, promoted "order-type" talent training, and jointly carried out "translation localization and project management" and "International engineering language service" joint training with Sidi Software Technology (Shenzhen) Co., LTD., Best Star International Management Consulting Co., LTD.
At present, the university has established more than 30 graduate internship practice bases such as the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, Foreign Language Bureau, Sidi Technology, and Betong Star, which is committed to serving the old industrial base in Northeast China, serving the national global governance, discourse system construction and international communication of international talent training positioning, and providing intellectual support for national and local economic and social development.
