On the afternoon of October 14th, the 2023 council of Confucius Institute of Armenia "Breusov" State University was held in our university. David Gyurkinyan, President of "Breusov" National University and Director of the Confucius Institute in Asia, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Gore Sargsyan, Director of the Confucius Institute in Asia, and Han Mingjie, Director of the Chinese side attended the meeting. Liu Hong, President of our University and Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Leaders of the Confucius Institute Office, Finance Office and other relevant departments attended the meeting.
President Liu Hong first of all welcomed the arrival of President David Gyurkinyan and his delegation, expressed her gratitude to "Breusov" National University for its support to the Confucius Institute over the years, and introduced to President David Gyurkinyan the construction of our campus and the development of the school. She spoke highly of the measures taken by the two sides to implement the board meeting system and promote the innovative development of Confucius Institutes.
She pointed out that during the co-construction of the Confucius Institute between our university and "Breusov" National University, with the joint efforts of the universities of both sides, the Confucius Institute has made remarkable achievements in promoting the construction of local Chinese teachers, the development of local Chinese teaching materials, and the building of brand activities. The Confucius Institute has made the inter-school exchange and cooperation between the two schools closer, and has become a bridge of teaching and research and teacher-student exchanges between the two schools. She said that in the future, our university will continue to support the work of the Confucius Institute and make joint efforts with the "Breusov" State University to promote educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
In his speech, President David Gyurkinyan thanked our school for its warm reception. He said that as an important platform for Chinese education in Armenia, the Confucius Institute has set up Chinese courses in many educational institutions in Armenia, including primary and secondary schools, which better meets the needs of local Armenian people to learn Chinese. At the same time, various cultural activities held by the Confucius Institutes have been well received by students and local people, and actively promoted cultural exchanges between the two countries. It is expected that the two universities will use the Confucius Institute as a platform to carry out more extensive cooperation in the fields of personnel training and professional construction.
At the Council meeting, Gor Sargsyan, director of the Confucius Institute in Asia, and Han Mingjie, director of the Confucius Institute in China, reported that the convening of the Council in 2022 laid an important foundation for the opening of a new round of cooperation between universities of the two sides and the construction and development of the Confucius Institute at "Breusov" National University, and pointed out the direction for exploring the localization, characteristic and connotative development of the Confucius Institute.
