On November 3rd, 2023 Andean Day and the founding ceremony of the European Language Institute Alumni Association of Dalian University of Foreign Languages was held in the lecture hall of the library. Liu Fengguang, Vice President of Dalian University of Foreign Languages; Yuan Dongzhen, Vice Director of the Institute of Latin American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Chang Fuliang, Dean of the Institute of Western Portuguese, Beijing Foreign Studies University; Zhang Zhen, former Editor of the Petroleum Industry Press of China Petroleum Corporation; Ju Chengtao, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Betongstad International Management Consulting Co., LTD.; Wang Lixin, General Manager; Liu Yongxin, Professor of Spanish, Yin Chengdong, Zhu Kai; Italian Professor Huang Qigao, former Secretary of the Party Branch of the Spanish and Portuguese Department Fan Xiaoxia, Deputy Director of the Alumni Office Bian Ying, the leadership team of the European Language Institute, alumni and representatives of teachers and students of the Institute participated in the event. The event was hosted by Li Ni, President of the European Language Institute.
Vice President Liu Fengguang first congratulated on the Andean Day and the establishment of the Alumni Association, and expressed sincere thanks to the experts and scholars who have been supporting the development of the university. In her speech, she introduced the development history and school-running characteristics of Dalian University of Foreign Languages, and fully affirmed the achievements of the European Language Institute in personnel training, discipline construction, teaching and research. She pointed out that 2023 is a key year for the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and hoped that experts and scholars will continue to support the development of the university, and hope that alumni will continue to pay attention to the progress of the Alma mater and make suggestions for the development of the Alma mater.
After watching the congratulatory video, Vice President Liu Fengguang awarded the flag to the Alumni Association of the European Language Institute, and Secretary Luan Hua took over the flag. In the presence of guests, alumni, teachers and students, the European Language Institute Alumni Association was officially established after nearly six months of careful preparation.
Since the establishment of the first national Center for the Study of Andean Countries in Latin America in 2017, the University has given full play to its advantages in multiple languages, held Andean Day every year, invited experts, scholars and business representatives to the campus, carried out various forms of regional and country research activities, and innovated talent training paths, striving to cultivate compound, international and applied foreign language talents. The 2023 Andean Day was held at the same time as the founding ceremony of the Alumni Association of the European Institute of Languages, which played an important role in passing on alumni resources, promoting alumni exchanges and giving play to the strength of alumni. The European Language Institute will take this opportunity to prepare and carry out relevant work successively, adhere to the spirit of the university of Foreign Languages, gather the strength of the university of foreign languages, and welcome the 60th anniversary of the school with high attitude and rich activities.
