Delegation Led by President of the University of Aveiro, Portugal Visits Our University

On June 5th, a delegation led by Paulo Ferreira, President of the University of Aveiro, visited our university. Wang Weichen, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Cong Mingcai, President of the University, met with the delegation. Heads of relevant functional departments and faculties attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Secretary Wang Weichen noted that the two universities are highly compatible in disciplinary construction and professional settings. Our university has always attached great importance to exchanges and cooperation with Portuguese universities. As a Portuguese university with a long history and profound cultural heritage, the University of Aveiro has rich experience in cultivating high-level international talents. It is hoped that through this exchange, both sides can achieve complementary advantages in disciplinary resources and continuously explore new mechanisms and pathways for cultural exchanges between China and Portugal.


President Cong Mingcai expressed gratitude to the University of Aveiro for its support in talent cultivation and the construction of the Confucius Institute at our university. As long-term partners, the two universities have been committed to promoting Sino-Portuguese cooperation in the field of education. It is hoped that in the future, based on the existing cooperation, both sides will expand the scale of exchanges, innovate cooperation models, broaden cooperation areas, and promote innovative collaboration between the two institutions.


President Paulo Ferreira of the University of Aveiro fully acknowledged the achievements made by our university in international exchange and cooperation. He stated that our university has profound strengths in international education cooperation and talent cultivation. He expressed the hope to deepen the partnership with our university, cultivate outstanding talents with a global perspective, and jointly create a new chapter in the international exchange and cooperation between the two universities.


After the meeting, President Cong Mingcai and President Paulo Ferreira signed a cooperation and exchange agreement between the two universities. The signing of this inter-university agreement will help give full play to the strengths of both institutions, deepen their close cooperation in talent cultivation, scientific research, and faculty-student exchange programs, and further promote educational and cultural exchanges between China and Portugal.(by Wang Zimu)
