On November 26, the 8th International Cultural Festival of Dalian University of Foreign Languages opened at the Alumni Plaza. Under the theme "Beyond Longitude and Latitude, Carrying Forward the Splendid Chapter," the festival brought together over a thousand Chinese and international teachers and students from dozens of countries and regions worldwide, presenting a grand event of multicultural integration.
Deputy Party Secretary Su Jian declared the festival officially open. The festivities commenced with a vibrant international costume show. The performance segment was divided into three chapters, featuring a rich array of ethnic dances, song performances, instrumental music, and poetry recitations from various countries. From the passionate dance moves of Thailand and the soulful recitation from Russia to the elegant Vietnamese dance, a succession of brilliant performances unfolded like a flowing tapestry of global culture. These acts vividly embodied the profound meaning of "transcending longitudes and latitudes," showcasing the radiant brilliance of civilizations through exchange and mutual learning.
The core segment of this year's festival, the "World Cultural Exhibition," unfolded at the university's central plaza. Exhibition booths from various countries showcased distinctive cuisines, handicrafts, and cultural customs, attracting numerous teachers and students to stop, interact, and engage in conversations. Chinese and international students actively communicated in Chinese and multiple languages, fostering an open, inclusive, friendly, and warm cultural atmosphere.
The hosting of this International Cultural Festival not only provided a broad stage for Chinese and international teachers and students to showcase and exchange but also further solidified the university's positive impact in internationalized education and cultural exchanges. The university will continue to leverage the distinctive strengths of a foreign languages institution, deepen international exchanges and cooperation, and make unremitting efforts to cultivate high-quality talents with a global perspective while promoting the integration and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign cultures.
