On the afternoon of March 10, Professor Daniel Conda, a foreign expert working at our university, delivered a wonderful lecture entitled Understanding Chinese Communication: A Linguist’s Perspective as the 29th session of the International Scholar Lecture Series on Disciplinary Innovation of Foreign Languages and Literature.
Co-organized by the University Discipline Innovation and Intelligence Introduction Base, the Northeast Asian Language Research Center under the State Language Commission and the Research Affairs Office, the event attracted nearly one hundred international undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students from more than ten countries. The lecture was presided over by Cao Bo, Vice Dean of the School of Chinese Language and Literature.
During the interactive session, he answered students’ questions in a rigorous yet witty manner and further illustrated the practical application of pragmatic strategies in Chinese communication. His easy-to-understand explanations won warm applause from all present.
Endowed with extensive international academic experience and profound cross-cultural research insights, Professor Conda opened up a new perspective for international students to comprehend the logic of Chinese communication, and laid a solid theoretical foundation for their future research in Chinese language teaching, cross-cultural communication and area studies.
This lecture serves as a concrete practice of promoting integrated innovation between foreign language disciplines and Chinese language and literature disciplines, as well as an effective attempt to tell China’s stories well and spread Chinese voices in the field of international Chinese education.
