To boost people-to-people cultural exchanges between Chinese and foreign youth and deepen educational cooperation and friendly ties between China and Portugal, the closing ceremony of the Ancient Charm Shines Bright, Wisdom Creates the Future Portuguese Young Scholars Urban Culture Study Camp was held in the multi-function hall of the International Cultural Exchange Center of our university on the morning of March 30.
Kong Feng, Deputy Director of Liaoning Provincial Department of Education, Wang Xiaohuan, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government, Óscar Afonso, Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, Qian Yingwei, Secretary of the Party Committee of our university, Cong Mingcai, President, Liu Fengguang, Vice President, Zhang Jiao and Yang Hui, Members of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee, as well as relevant officials from Foreign Affairs Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government, Dalian Investment Promotion Center and Dalian Media Group attended the ceremony. Fifty teachers and student representatives from eight Portuguese universities, together with staff and teachers and students from relevant functional departments and the School of European Languages of our university, participated in the event. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Liu Fengguang.
A review video presented the exchange journey in Dalian, covering classroom seminars, cultural experiences, city tours and campus interactions. Chinese and Portuguese youth forged profound friendship amid linguistic and cultural integration.
In his speech, Deputy Director Kong Feng emphasized that young people are vital forces for China-Portugal friendly exchanges. This study camp has not only built a bridge for mutual learning between youth of the two countries, but also exerted far-reaching significance in advancing bilateral educational cooperation.
Maria João, Portuguese faculty representative, Luna Rodrigues, Portuguese student representative, and Zhou Yitong, Chinese student representative, delivered speeches in succession to share their gains and insights from the camp.
Going forward, our university will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Portuguese institutions of higher learning, build regular communication platforms, and expand student exchange programs, joint training projects and scientific research cooperation in both scope and depth. We will encourage more young people to act as envoys of China-Portugal friendship. Tied by educational exchanges, we will promote mutual learning between Chinese and Portuguese civilizations and closer people-to-people bonds, and contribute Dalian University of Foreign Languages’ efforts to the national opening-up strategy.
