On July 10, the Seminar on Regional and International Maritime Situations (Q2 2026) was held at our university. Hosted by the National Marine Data and Information Service and co-organized by the University’s Research Office and Institute of Regional and Country Studies, the seminar aims to consolidate expert consensus, pool interdisciplinary insights, and promote academic exchanges in relevant fields.
Qian Yingwei, University Party Secretary, together with leading officials from the Research Office and the Institute of Regional and Country Studies, attended the opening ceremony. More than 30 experts and scholars from over ten institutions gathered for the event, including the National Marine Data and Information Service, China Ocean Administration, the Economic and National Defense Coordination Development Research Center under the National Development and Reform Commission, the Water Transport Institute of the Ministry of Transport, the Guangdong Marine Planning and Development Research Center, Sun Yat-sen University, Nankai University, Ocean University of China, Dalian Maritime University, Shanghai Maritime University, Dalian Ocean University, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, and Dalian University of Foreign Languages. Participants jointly discussed new prospects for marine development.
Secretary Qian Yingwei emphasized in his speech that accurate analysis of maritime situations serves as a key starting point for regional and country studies to respond to national maritime strategic needs. He pointed out that the seminar thoroughly examined the evolving regional and international maritime landscapes and built a high-end platform for experts and scholars to exchange cutting-edge research findings, which is of great practical significance for promoting interdisciplinary integration and serving the national strategy of building a maritime power. He stated that the university will give full play to its combined strengths in multilingual resources and interdisciplinary development, further advance research in regional and country studies, and deepen strategic cooperation with competent authorities and research institutes, contributing more “DUFL wisdom” to the high-quality development of national maritime undertakings.
Li Shuangjian, Deputy Director of the National Marine Data and Information Service, remarked in his address that the seminar has long focused on national strategic demands and continued to conduct in-depth analysis of global and regional maritime trends. He encouraged participating experts to share diverse insights and offer professional suggestions, so as to jointly support national maritime strategies and advance China’s in-depth participation in global maritime governance.
The seminar has not only built a high-level academic dialogue platform in the maritime field, but also effectively expanded the university’s exchanges and cooperation with national-level high-end maritime think tanks and research institutions, injecting strong momentum into the connotative development of relevant disciplines at our university.
