Academic Symposium “China–Russia Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation for the World: History, Present and Future” Held at Our University

From September 6 to 8, the academic symposium “China–Russia Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation for the World: History, Present and Future” was held at Dalian University of Foreign Languages.

The symposium was hosted by the Specialized Committee for Comparative Studies of Chinese and Russian Languages and Cultures, organized by the School of Russian Studies of DUFL, the China Northeast Asia Language Research Center, and the Higher Education Institution Innovation Base for Introducing Intelligence through Disciplinary Innovation, and co-organized by the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The symposium coincided with the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between China and Russia. It is one of the series of events for the China–Russia Years of Education and the first large-scale academic activity held after the Specialized Committee for Comparative Studies of Chinese and Russian Languages and Cultures was established at DUFL.

On the morning of September 7, the opening ceremony of the symposium was held in Conference Room 601 of Chengzhi Building. Cong Mingcai, President of DUFL; Kirill Babaev, Director of the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences; and Natalia Pryzhkova, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Shenyang, delivered speeches in turn. Liu Hong, Chairman of the Specialized Committee for Comparative Studies of Chinese and Russian Languages and Cultures and Party Secretary of Liaoning Normal University, sent a congratulatory letter.

This symposium is an important practice for the university to fully leverage the platform effectiveness of the Specialized Committee for Comparative Studies of Chinese and Russian Languages and Cultures, providing a new vehicle for the university to further pool Russian studies resources at home and abroad and expand practical cooperation with high-level Russian research institutions. The successful convening of the symposium effectively integrated high-end academic resources from China and Russia, fully demonstrating the solid academic heritage of our university's Russian studies discipline and its mature foundation for international exchanges, while also injecting fresh momentum into strengthening the university's regional and country studies and empowering high-level international academic cooperation.
