On the morning of March 13, President Sun Yuhua met with President Koga Katsumi of Ishikawa Prefecture Japan-China Friendship Association and the delegation from Soka University. Vice President Liu Hong and directors from International Office and School of Japanese Studies also attended the meeting.
President Sun Yuhua gave a warm welcome to President Koga Katsumi and the delegation. She said that Mr. Koga Katsumi has been dedicated to promoting China-Japan friendship for many years, particularly the friendly exchanges between Dalian City and Kanazawa City of Ishikawa Prefecture in fields such as education, culture and economy. Accordingly, DUFL has conducted the exchanges and cooperation with the colleges and universities in Kanazawa City of Ishikawa Prefecture in many fields, gaining great benefits and remarkable achievements.
President Koga Katsumi expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and highly praised DUFL’s long-term contributions to promoting China-Japan exchanges. He pointed out that as an honorary citizen of Dalian City, he has always considered China-Japan peace and friendship as his mission and China-Japan exchanges and the development and construction of Dalian as his career. And he hoped that he can strengthen China-Japan friendly exchanges in cooperation with DUFL.
During the meeting, President Sun Yuhua pointed out that since Dalian University of Foreign Languages and Soka University established friendly exchange relations in 2006, Soka University has been dedicated to promoting the exchanges with other universities, which conforms to the internationalized school-running idea of DLUFL. And she hoped that these two universities can conduct positive exchanges and cooperation at various levels, such as student exchanges, teacher exchanges, and academic studies. Moreover, she expressed her heartfelt admiration and gratitude for the outstanding contributions to world peace and China-Japan friendship made by Mr. Daisaku Ikeda, the founder of Soka University.
In addition, Professor Wang Hongxiang, director for Chinese Affairs at Sako University, passed on President Yoshihisa Baba’s regards to President Sun Yuhua. He said that Sako University will take advantage of the “Global Talent Programme” to develop the “Joint Bachelor’s Degree” and “Fast Track Master’s Degree” programmes, increase the exchanges and cooperation with DUFL, and provide the highest-quality educational resources and the lowest-cost standard for the students from DUFL.
President Sun Yuhua said that the university will, according to current internationalized school-running idea, increase and deepen the exchanges and cooperation with top colleges and universities abroad, and promote the diversity of student training, the increase of teacher exchanges, and the internationalization of academic research. She also hoped that the two sides can constantly strengthen contact and communication, deepen exchanges and cooperation, and promote internationalized development of two universities.
